Financial Reports

The Pontifical Mission Societies USA is part of a global network overseen by the Vatican's Dicastery for Evangelization. From a structural standpoint, The Pontifical Mission Societies are both universal and local, with national offices such as ours. The great task of The Pontifical Mission Societies is to raise awareness of the mission, which is a task of the whole People of God in the teaching of the Popes and the Council.

The Superior Council that leads The Pontifical Mission Societies- that includes both officials from the Dicastery and all the National Directors from around the world- meets every year with the purpose of considering the requests for support from all over the world on the different needs of the young Churches. The funds raised by the faithful of the five continents are distributed to try and meet the evangelization needs of the Church in mission countries. A key component of this fund is the World Mission Sunday collection, that takes place on the second to last Sunday of October. This day of reflection and giving is the culmination of an entire month- October- dedicated to mission.

National Directors of The Pontifical Mission Societies from 130 countries examine and approve the projects presented annually by the Churches in mission territories, ensuring that trying to make sure the funds are allocated promptly, transparently and with the primary intention of answering the call to be Apostles of all nations.

Financial statements

The funds raised by The Pontifical Mission Societies are distributed as either ordinary or extraordinary projects:

Ordinary projects provide essential, ongoing support—such as annual grants for seminarians and novices, or basic operational funding for some of the poorest dioceses in the world.

Extraordinary projects are one-time grants for specific needs —like building churches or schools, repairing a convent roof, or purchasing Bibles for a new classroom.

Each subsidy helps ensure that missionaries and local Church leaders can continue bringing the Gospel and practical aid to communities in need.
