Diocesan Offices

A Worldwide Network at the Service of the Pope

The Pontifical Mission Societies (TPMS) form a global network at the service of the Pope, supporting the missions and young Churches through prayer and charity.

Mission is at the heart of the Church, answering Jesus’ call to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Mt 28:19). TPMS enables every baptized Catholic to live out their faith in a missionary way—through prayer, witness, and charity—in communion with brothers and sisters around the world.

National and Diocesan Leadership

In each country, a National Director oversees TPMS in accordance with the pastoral directives of the local bishops’ conference. In the United States, TPMS USA fosters missionary awareness, encourages prayer and financial support for missionaries, and promotes the Pope’s missions across the country.

Under the National Office, Diocesan Directors in every U.S. diocese play a key role in animating missionary awareness at the local level—helping Catholics understand the Church’s call to mission ad gentes and inviting them to support the spread of the Gospel worldwide.
